Why did LinkedIn Divorce Github ?? (no longer supports Github app)

On November 26, 2012, I received an email message from LinkedIn informing me that LinkedIn would no longer be supporting the Github application on LinkedIn. This was an application or add-on that LinkedIn provided as a connection to Github and its software engineer audience... (similar to Wordpress, Box.net, Amazon Kindle, and other applications I have found to be very productive and helpful to my LinkedIn profile and network.)

If there is anyone in this reading audience that might be able to share some information on this LinkedIn and Github relationship, sure would like to know why this strategic alliance and partnership was discontinued.

LinkedIn is a significant tool used in most recruiting strategies (see next posting from Bloomberg Businessnews (http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2012-12-13/job-recruiters-turn-to-linkedin-social-media-startups?goback=%2Egsm_4019135_1_*2_*2_*2_lna_PENDING_*2) and in most recruiting "bag of tricks" or tools used to implement a successful recruiting strategy. The Github application has significant potential - not sure if new tools like Talentbin or Entelo are the cause of this disconnection, but wondering if we can expect other social recruiting applications to be disconnected by LinkedIn.

Also surprised that there isn't more press or public information on this application support being discontinued. Thanks for reading !
